Microsoft's macOS version of Office has had a new lease of life over the last couple of years. It's now built on the same codebase as its Windows sibling, with the same features and a user. Step 1: Download the Install. Once you download the 2.6GB file to your downloads folder, click on the Office Preview Package to get started. You will be guided through the necessary steps to install this software. Tip: I had to upgrade my OS X because you can't install Office for Mac with any version of OS X below 10.10. Log in to Office 365 with your Illinois State email address and password. You will be brought to the Office 365 homepage. Click Install Office on the top right corner of the screen. Click Office 365 Apps. The Microsoft installer will download to your computer. You can also click Other Install Options to install Office in different languages or to specify the downloads you would like. Double-click the Microsoft installer to begin installation. Office 365 for Mac has been designed specifically to support features that are unique to the Mac experience — features like Dark Mode and Continuity Camera in macOS, as well as the MacBook Pro Touch Bar and the Mac’s industry-leading Trackpad.
